Why the Salimpour School Online?

The Salimpour School began in 1949 and continues today as the longest running bellydance legacy and School. Suhaila Salimpour was the first to offer belly dance online classes in 2008, and she continues to provide hours of classes using her revolutionary dance format and Salimpour Vocabulary. We provide safe and inclusive dance education for the hobbyist to the professional. We've taught thousands of students and have a worldwide community. Join us!


What is the Salimpour School Membership? 

The Salimpour School Online Membership is a subscription service designed to teach you belly dance in a safe and inclusive environment with a responsible focus on cultural authenticity.


What is included in the Salimpour School Membership? 

Your membership includes: 

  • Locked In Rate: Your rate will stay the same for as long as you're a member, even as the library grows and the public pricing increases.

  • 300+ Member-Only Belly Dance Videos preloaded into the library online. 

  • Organized Catalog where you can sort by level and content.

  • 8-Week Training Plans rotated every two months.

  • Free Choreography rotated every month. 

  • Private Community Facebook group An exclusive place where you can connect and communicate with all the other like-minded dancers practicing with you every day within the membership! You can post about your practice, make requests, ask questions, engage in polls, make friends, and receive updates about what’s new and upcoming! 

What is the difference between the monthly and annual subscriptions? 

The monthly and annual subscriptions provide access to the exact same content, but with the annual option you save about 30%. 


What happens after I join the Salimpour School Membership?

After you sign up, you’ll receive a welcome email with your login credentials, access links, and everything you need to know about your account. You will have access to the content immediately.


I have a medical condition / injury / postpartum. Can I still join the Salimpour School Membership?

If you’re pregnant, postpartum, diabetic, have a medical condition, an injury, or a physical disability, please consult your doctor or professional healthcare provider before starting the Salimpour School Membership.


What qualifications does Suhaila have & can I practice with her in-person? 

Suhaila has over fifty years of belly dance experience, and over forty years of teaching. She is the leading master instructor of belly dance in the world, having created her own format that has revolutionized the understanding and instruction of the art form. She has taught thousands of students from new to professional. Suhaila offers live classes and workshops are listed on her website. She was also the first to offer belly dancer certification, which is now housed in the Suhaila Salimpour Institute of Online Education and available to dancers worldwide. Billing and Account Questions

How do I reset my password? 

On the login page, click Forgot Password, enter the email associated with your account, and click Send Instructions. The instruction email will arrive in your inbox shortly. In the instruction email, click Reset Password and you will be directed to select a new password before being redirected to the catalog page.


How do I change my password?

Once signed into your account, you can change your password by clicking My Account or Dashboard from the top navigation menu. Select Password and update your password.


How do I update my billing information?

Once signed into your account, you can update your billing information by clicking My Account or Dashboard from the top navigation menu. Select Billing and update your billing information.


My credit card is being declined. Why is that?

Many credit/debit cards have online purchase restrictions. If your card is being declined, please contact your credit card company to let them know the purchase you would like to make is valid. Also, certain credit/debit cards do not allow for recurring subscription billing, and therefore, may be denied.


How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your membership at any time. However, we'll be sad to see you go! By canceling your membership, you are forgoing any “locked-in” discounted rate, and if you choose to sign up again, your rate will be determined by the current membership prices.

Once you cancel, you will not be billed for the following month. Your login will remain active, and your account will be set to expire at the end of your payment period. Once expired, you will no longer have access to the Salimpour School Membership.


Once signed into your account, you can cancel your recurring subscription by clicking My Account or Dashboard from the top navigation menu. Select Billing and locate your subscription plan at the bottom of the page.  Click Change Plan and Cancel Membership. Your membership will be canceled and your access will be removed at the end of your current payment period.


Playback Questions

My video does not playback smoothly. How can I fix this?

Video playback depends on several factors. To improve your playback experience, make sure you have a fast, stable internet connection. We recommend using the most recent version of Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. You may experience playback issues with outdated devices and browsers, or any version of Internet Explorer.


Can I watch videos using Chromecast and Airplay?

Yes!  Both Chromecast and Airplay are compatible with our site.  To use Chromecast: Locate the Chromecast icon in the bottom right corner of the video you want to cast; click the icon and select the correct Chromecast from the pop-up in your browser. To use AirPlay: Open the video on your Apple device and click the AirPlay icon in the bottom left corner.


Can I watch videos on my TV?

Yes. By connecting your laptop directly to your TV with an HDMI cable, you will be able to watch videos from our site on your TV.


Can I watch videos on my phone or tablet?

Yes. Our website adapts to phone and tablet browsers so you can watch our content anywhere!


Which browsers are supported?

While we recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome, we also support Firefox and Safari browser released within the last five years.  You may experience playback issues when using an out of date browser or any version of Internet Explorer.
